Trek

Why not go trekking for HELP? You may not feel able to offer your services as a volunteer, but still want an adventure in the Himalayas. HELP has linked up with the Mountain Company to offer a great trekking opportunity in Sikkim in October 2008. Why not join us on this adventure and, in so doing, raise funds for HELP?

HELP Sikkim 'Goecha la' trek with Gangtok and Kalimpong

October 11th to 25th 2008

Trek

Kanchenjunga

This Charity Challenge is open to everyone. Jim Coleman, the founder of HELP, will also join the group.

This beautiful trek starts in sub-tropical forests, passes through pasturelands of grazing yaks and reaches the Goecha la, at just under 5,000m, opposite the eastern flank of Mt Kanchenjunga. There are many other impressive mountains seen on this trek including Kabru, Rathong and Pandim. The views are stunning.

Sikkim is famous not just for its mountains but also for its large variety of flora especially its orchids of which they are over 600 species, and its rhodedendrons.

On your way to the start of the trek, you will also get the chance to stay a night with a Sikkimese family in Kewzing, and visit the village school which is being supported by HELP.

If you would like more information about this trip, and find out how to book, visit The Mountain Company's website.

By participating in this Charity Challenge, you can help HELP by asking your friends and relations and work colleagues to sponsor you. You can make it easy for them by approaching them via the Justgiving website. We ask you to raise just £350 for HELP's donation fund, which we hope will be easily achievable.
